The Banting and Best Diabetes Centre, University of Toronto (U of T), has published a profile honouring the work of Medicine by Design Executive Director Michael Sefton, who is also a University Professor at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry at U of T.

Sefton was recently inducted into the National Academy of Engineering, one of the highest honours in his field. He adds this honour to several others including the Order of Canada (2017) and an induction into the National Academy of Medicine (2014).

His induction into the National Academy of Engineering, Sefton says, gave him acknowledgement that his work was on the right track and “that the idea of integrating engineering with biological approaches to address diabetes was something that people thought warranted recognition.”
