Trainee Travel Grants

Trainees working in the laboratories of Medicine by Design-funded principal investigators may apply for funding to attend national and international conferences, workshops or courses that are directly related to Medicine by Design funded research. To qualify, trainees must have had an abstract accepted for presentation (poster or oral). Funds of up to $2,000 (travel, accommodation, registration and meals) per trainee per year are available. Reimbursement guidelines are in compliance with University of Toronto and Canada First Research Excellence Fund policies. There is a limit of one candidate submission per principal investigator for the same event. Please complete and submit the following form. Applications will be reviewed and decisions communicated within one month of submission.

  • Please upload your abstract in Word format. Include a title and list all authors and their affiliations.
  • Please upload a copy of the confirmation email or letter of acceptance from the organizers to present your work either as a poster or oral presentation.
  • Please upload a letter of support from your supervisor (on official letterhead). Alternatively, your supervisor may e-mail the letter directly to payam.zahedi@utoronto.ca. Letter can be made out to: Payam Zahedi, PhD - Scientific Manager, Medicine by Design.
